John Hegarty focuses his practice on real estate and commercial finance transactions, and on the development and financing of a diverse area of energy projects for both large landowners and operators.
John frequently represents large farms and ranches, developers, investors, and lenders in a variety of transactions involving energy generation and real estate development, including oil and gas, solar, wind, geothermal, and other types of energy facilities. He often employs his real estate experience to advise energy project participants in connection with site control issues, including ground leasing and property acquisition transactions, access easements, title insurance issues and related aspects of site control in development transactions.
Prior to joining Crisham & Homan, John was a member of the real estate group of an AmLaw 100 Firm, he also worked in several boutique oil & gas and energy law firms.
Outside the office, John is a partner in a family cow-calf operation in northern New Mexico, the Hondo Canyon Cattle Company. He and his wife Cassie enjoy the fullness of their packed house with six young children.
